Kuchisakeonna - Carved/Slit-mouthed Woman Country of Origin: Japan
So, movie started off seeming like it might be standard Hollywood style stuff - the slit-mouthed woman was all green and demony looking and really more 'funny' than scary. But then, after the initial emergence, she looked like a fairly normal pretty woman (when the mask was over her mouth) but with unnaturally colored irises. It was pretty noticeable and very creepy.
Rather formulaic, but fairly certain that was intended that way. There is a bit of gore, just based on the nature of the fact that her mouth is split from ear to ear. But most of it is 'censored' in that you see her performing the act, but you don't actually SEE it. ... But it has one thing that makes me squeamish EVERY TIME. She cut someone's Achilles tendon. In both legs AKLHGUHAKJJG A-Augh. Every time. Gives me shivers just thinking about it.
There was a bit of a supernatural twist on this one, but I won't spoil if anyone wants to go see it. Not *exactly* your stereotypical vengeful ghost story.
And, as a bonus.... no Japanese horror ever EVER ends well! lol. American horror has either a happy ending, or a "OH NO YOU DIDN'T" ending, but most of the time, it tends to end. Unless Hollywood intends a sequel.
Ho ho ho, saw the ending coming a mile away, but over all, it was pretty good 8D

The Victim Country of Origin: Thailand
Going into this movie pretty excited! I hope it doesn't let me down!!
So, for some reason, the police force gets the criminal to reenact the scene with an actress as the victim. Not in a studio either; in the actual location ;;; The girl's first reenactment... was so realistic, the crowd nearby actually jumps the criminal, and some woman runs to the actress as if she was really hurt. Kind of lol there.
... Pretty sure the Lieutenant was hitting on her, too ;;;
The woman who plays Meen in the movie is very beautiful!
This movie reminds me of the same sort of oppressive tension that's in the Fatal Frame series. The scenes really build up, especially the scene with all the ghosts begging for her help. (One ghost even looked like Kuchisakeonna!) The kind of tension that makes you hold your breath for it to advance (I LOVE THOSE KINDS OF SCENES)
(I have to say the paparazzi are pretty funny in this. But not annoying funny. Just kind of like "lol, they're so confused but still snapping pictures!" )
SPOILER!! ................ wut, this just became a lesbian jealousy murder ;;; RUN TING RUN
............... I just got punk'd! ::blinking at the screen:: ... ::stupid grin:: This movie rocks.
I actually liked that movie! It was pretty good! I can see parts where I might normally criticize but the overall film made the nitpicky things not as bothersome. And the end credits were pretty awesome too. "Did you catch this" kind of stuff!

I want to see Shutter (the original ver.) It looks pretty creepy! Like something Hollywood wants to recreate but fails horribly at.
