How does a human short circuit?
Oct. 5th, 2008 01:07 amI think I actually short-circuited my body... all with one swig!
Okay, so one of the guys at work got those 6-hour power energy supplement thingies. I'd seen the newbie drink them and he just gets jittery, and even twitchier than he normally is, but is otherwise fine. But the guy that got them today normally burns through energy drinks like Monster within 10 minutes because he's very athletic (martial artist since 4 years old).
So he downs one. And nothing happens besides him saying it tastes terrible. It's supposed to be wildberry flavor, but he says it tastes medicine-y.
... so he gives me the other one; Jolt gum never affects me, and neither does two cans of Amp...
.... and so I down the entire shot in one hit.
.......... And feel normal, at least at first. It tastes like hot kool-aid with mushed up flintstones' kids vitamins in it; definitely not pleasant.
Within a few minutes, my ears start to feel really hot and prickly. And then my arms. And then my cheeks. And Marc's starting to look at me really worried. He says my head looks like it's about to explode. And all of a sudden, I feel really lightheaded; I go into the bathroom, and my face is beet red, and my eyes look like I've been hanging upside down for an hour. I nearly throw up, but suck it up and deal with it. Needless to say, I look ghastly, and feel just as bad.
After a few minutes, I feel a bit better, and I exit the bathroom. Marc says I look better, but still kinda bad. Andrew, the guy who bought them, is laughing (cause he's like my rival!), but tells me to go outside in the sun, cause that'll help break down the b12 that's essentially fighting with my body.
I walk across the parking lot and generally mosey around for a bit. Feel a bit better, but still a little woozy.
That was maybe around 4:30 when I took the damn thing, and even now I still feel shakey, tired, and over all sick.
So, I go from feeling completely fine to sick just because of one stupid energy drink that's supposed to not give you a crash because there's no guarana?
.... Lol, I don't know if I was allergic to something in it, or if it just sky rocketed my blood pressure to a dangerous level. EITHER WAY, I'm never drinking that devil juice again, lol.
Hurrah for experimentation!
