Nah, it's really okay. I just get touchy about that series because so many people assume that it's really as bad as the dub makes it ::sob::
Ryo becomes RAH-EE-Oh (gotta love pronunciation problems). His personality changes are pretty subtle, but still there if one compares each scene.
Touma becomes Rowen (What the hell?) Sub: He is a genius with a very high I.Q. He often jokes around with Seiji, since their ancestors were comrades in arms/friends. He loves to eat, and can order an entire table of food, and still finish it all. He also loves to sleep, and is often found sleeping in pictures by the manga-ka ^^ He is the strategic member of the team first and foremost, but does have a slight 'rivalry' with Ryo, because he feels Ryo is having trouble with the leader position (Ryo is very emotional, you see). He is friends with Jun/Yuli (a little kid who idolizes them), because they share a common interest in astronomy, and Touma becomes somewhat of a tutor to Jun. Dub He is rather sarcastic, and has a wonderful knack of speaking the obvious ("You're a girl!" to Lady Kayura who was obviously so, OR "You're a man!" to Shuten/Anubis who was also very obvious). His love of food and sleep is completely omitted. He fights with Ryo over the leadership position because he wants to be the leader. Jun/Yuli is now bestest buds with Ryo.
Seiji becomes Sage (okay, I can kind of understand that. KINDA). Sub: Seiji is the ancestor of Masamune Date, a great (though I think he's kinda mean) warrior. He is quiet and very traditionally Japanese. His one eye is covered because of the intense purple-y ice color of them; it apparently scared people when both were revealed ^^;;;;;. When he was younger, his sisters dressed him up as a girl all the time, and justified it as making sure that he would not die (it was actually a common practice in Japan, since they thought that young boys may be taken away by the gods...); because of this, he became somewhat nervous around girls. Dub: He is, like most dub personalities, also faintly sarcastic. He likes order, and does not hesitate to make sure everyone follows that, managing to sound completely unaffected by everything, and yet still seem tense, and like he has a stick up his ass X_X;;;. He is the suave chick-magnet, and apparently makes a note to flirt subtly with any girl he can...
Shin becomes Cye (pronounced like Sai .. Where the hell did they get that?). Sub: He doesn't like to fight if he can avoid it. He, for reasons unknown, seems to have a vague dislike of Touma, and won't hesitate to cause a bit of commotion with him (some doujin-ka translate this as his possessive nature over Ryo, and him being catty to someone he sees as competition XD;;; ) He is an amazing chef, which is mostly why Shuu hangs around with him :3;;; He's vaguely fatalist, often not seeing the good in what they do, until convinced otherwise. Dub: Not only does he become either British or Australian, but he also becomes completely and totally obsessed with fish. Don't get me wrong, he <3s fish, but not to the Dub's extent. His cooking ability is omitted. He is supposedly the mediator of the group, but ends up being one of the loudest yellers and having the shortest temper o.o;; (okay, he is like that, but he is not supposed to be the mild-mannered mediator of the group). Oh, and he's more "love and butterflies" in the dub.
Shuu becomes Kento ( Not only did they take his CHINESE name away, because he IS Chinese, they give him a Japanese name after changing all the Japanese names to English ones...) Sub: He sorta wears his heart on his sleeve, but is very jovial. He loves to eat, very much like Touma, and it's no wonder, because he and Touma have been friends since they were little. His uncle runs a Chinese restaurant in New York, and he has a large family. He wants to protect all his friends, and take the brunt of attacks because he's physcially like a wall :3 He's not really smart like Touma, but he's definitly at least above average (he knows Chinese AND learned Japanese. Kinda like Ren! <3) Dub: He's pretty darn dumb. Doesn't get enemy ploys until he walks right into them. Eating is his life... Um, and he's really dumb.... er, yeah...
