In the not too distant future

So, decided to finally try X-men Origins Wolverine. Because my guild leader tried it, and said it was actually not bad. Of course, though I respect his opinion, I still have my doubts. This is all gonna be typed as I play. LIVE ACTION COVERAGE YOU GUYZ

First off, it's movie based. And. I hate the Wolverine actor. He's too thin, not hairy enough, too tall, not stocky at all. And his 'badass' attitude is way too forced. And if I hear one more girl get all squee over him, I'm gonna puke. Ugh.

So, downloaded the Weapon X Arena promo that I snagged from the store. We got, like, 30 of them, and 5 whole copies of the game, so... yeah, I was free to take one 8|; Gonna try that later, if the game makes it worth my while.

Using my red 'Robin' controller for this one. It might also prevent me from causing massive blood-shed.

The disc has a preview for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 on it. You know, the one that is gonna deal with the Civil War that had broken out in Marvel comics 'recently.' Although the Young Avengers were pretty important during the Civil War, I'm pretty sure they're not gonna be in the game. At all. Si~gh ;A; But it still looks sexy as hell. Exciting!

The opening movie has your good, old fashioned Blizzard realism. Good for you, Blizzard, you rock guys. Lots of blood, and a guy getting clawed through the head THROUGH A WALL.

Though, Wolverine comes off as somewhat of a villain trying to make a getaway... What with his crazy slaughter of everyone.

Okay, so... starts off not too bad. Your standard hack and slash style game-play. But, I killed a guy by landing on him from a several hundred foot drop. Kinda liking this, lol. Every once in a while, for seemingly no reason, my attacks look all slow-mo and close-up. Kinda cool, but may get annoying in the future.

Skills are also pretty in-depth, with different facets to his fighting. There's fight moves (your standard button-sequences), reflexes (fight the same kind of enemy enough, and your ability to kick their asses harder gets better), mutagens (equipment, essentially, that allow you to heal faster, or stuff like that. Your basic trinket/class abilities), and skills (the abilities you increase as you level up).

They use the term 'snikt' holy shit that's awesome. (For you not in the know, 'snikt' is the comic book sound of Wolverine's claws extending and, sometimes, retracting)

You can collect action figures (win) to unlock costumes (more win). You can collect dog tags, like in Gears (only these get bonus xp).

Exploring to see how the map works. In a way, I dislike these realistic environments that are difficult to tell what you can and can't climb. Even though the main path is very easy to locate, the nooks and crannies are not. Good for a challenge, though.

Okay, so just unlocked Feral Senses... which basically turns most of the world black and white, while highlighting (in green, usually) something important. I have yet to be able to tell if this means it'll lead me to things like dog-tags or action figures, though. It might just show you how to progress in the level, which, so far, is fairly straight-forward.

Kinda wish I could take screen-shots. Some of the environments, though not interactive, are pretty awesome.

AkjHGKJKSdf I just leaped at a helicopter, smashed open the window, grabbed the pilot and stood up, holding his HEAD TO THE ROTOR BLADE 8|! Oh man, the carnage in this game is so incredibly over the top. I feel the adrenaline!!

A plus side to this is the fact that even when your health is 'gone' you are not dead. Instead, you are merely 'exposed' and more damage will kill you. But, you're motherfuckin Wolverine, so you can just heal yourself up if you don't take more damage over a certain thresh-hold, lol.

Okay, so the feral senses do show you where collectibles are. But they don't really lead you anywhere that the items are hiding. You just have to notice it. So, I'll probably pop that on whenever I'm in a large area and pan the camera...

Pausing for now, though I have to say overall I'm pleased. The crazy, over the top violence is pretty awesome, and I'm on normal difficulty, but it's really not that hard. I'll probably go back through it when it's over to see what things I missed.

One of the better movie games I've tried....

EDIT: As any good game should, starting from the beginning allows you to retain your level and power-ups, as well as your tabs for killed enemies and stats like that. I missed something foolishly (my own fault) so I went back to the beginning and immediately got an achievement for 100 enemies killed on my third enemy of the game. rock on.
